NML beef and dairy blood testing

NML has traditionally been associated with milk testing for the dairy industry. However there are a growing number of services available for both beef and dairy.  NML are able to test for antibodies from blood samples for Johne’s, BVD, IBR, IBR-gE, Leptospira, Liver fluke and Neospora.  Furthermore, BVD antigen/virus can be detected in bloods for BVD.

Sampling

If it is necessary for vets to carry out blood extractions for live animals.  Standard red-topped 5ml blood tubes can be posted direct to our Hillington lab:

Results

Results will be sent to you and your veterinary surgeon for their detailed interpretation and you should then seek their advice on the best course of action. Results will give an indication of the level of infection within the herd, or can also be used on individual animals.
